Within Aladdin Data, Process Engineering develops the applications, pipelines, integrations, and distributed systems that turn complex data into reliable insights and support Aladdin’s continued growth.

Your role and impact

As a Workflow Process Engineer within our Data Engineering team, you will build scalable data and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that solve business problems at global scale. You will combine software engineering, distributed systems, and AI expertise to improve platform resilience, accelerate innovation, and deliver trusted data across Aladdin.

Your responsibilities

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, building resilient systems, and working closely with product, business, and engineering partners. You will:

• Build efficient, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems used across global teams.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to shape the technical roadmap.
• Design practical solutions to complex data, platform, and AI engineering challenges.
• Apply strong engineering practices across design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Improve system resilience through code reviews, automated testing, development and operations practices, and production support.
• Collaborate with colleagues across offices and countries to deliver high-impact solutions.
• Mentor engineers, raise technical standards, and help create an inclusive team culture.
• Provide Level 2 or Level 3 support for technical and operational issues when needed.

Your experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building complex production systems.
• Advanced degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong Java and Python skills, with a focus on clean design, modular architecture, concurrency, and maintainable code.
• Experience building application programming interfaces (APIs), Multithreading, microservices, and backend services using enterprise Java and Python application-development frameworks.
• A quality-first engineering mindset, including thoughtful design, test-driven development, code reviews, automated testing, secure development practices, version control, build automation, and continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Experience developing artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions using Python-based machine learning, data analysis, and orchestration libraries.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, fault tolerance, high availability, and high-throughput design.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging, Representational State Transfer services, remote procedure call frameworks, and schema-based data serialization.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, distributed document-oriented data stores, and in-memory caching platforms.
• Familiarity with modern engineering practices, including dependency management, testing, mocking, static analysis, automated delivery, and observability.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with curiosity about financial technology.

Preferred experience and growth areas

• Exposure to generative AI architectures, including agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, knowledge graphs, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Familiarity with vector search, semantic retrieval, vector storage, and indexing platforms.
• Experience with machine learning operations and AI observability capabilities, including lifecycle management, metrics, telemetry, drift detection, and automated evaluation.
• Experience building cloud-native or event-driven applications using containers, orchestration, horizontal scaling, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience with major cloud platforms and their compute, messaging, storage, monitoring, and secrets-management services.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data processing, analytical data platforms, distributed processing, and large-scale data pipelines.
• Interest in building secure and governed AI systems with strong controls for identity, encryption, auditability, explainability, privacy, and model risk.
• Experience delivering AI and machine learning products in financial services, regulated industries, or other security-sensitive production environments.

For Wilmington, DE Only the salary range for this position is USD$138,000.00 - USD$186,500.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
