Diesel Mechanic

Position Senior Level Diesel Technician – Spartanburg, South Carolina. Responsibilities Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard maintenance, preventive maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer, completing detailed inspections & repairs, replacing defective components, and working unsupervised. Performs facility maintenance duties. Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint. Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available. Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT). Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels. Demonstrates ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents. Other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support. Completes SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220). Completes 2 of the OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred). Basic tools required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems). Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred). All other certification as required by location (required). Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred). Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment. Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. Driver requirements: Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire, pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background & motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification.
