PRN Respiratory Therapist II - Non-NICU @ Cobb Hospital

Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple‑problem patient situations. The majority of time is spent in critical‑care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision‑making and self‑direction. The RT II also provides patient and family education, coordinates activities, staff development, and professional self‑developmental activities, and addresses biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and education needs. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Provides customer service and teams support, promotes a positive work environment. Administers quality patient care: performs patient assessment, collaborates with the health care team, verifies orders, and administers aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy. Performs ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, tracheal tube change and care), arterial blood gas sampling and analysis. Educates patients and mentors new employees, students, and peers. Assists in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, pulmonary diagnostic testing. Promotes current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging; promotes patient safety (medication safety, NPSG); promotes performance‑improvement initiatives and evidence‑based practice; reviews revised and new DPPs; performs other duties as assigned; complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred). Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) NBRC‑RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist RCP – Respiratory Care Profession BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS Instructor Required Minimum Experience 0–2 years clinical experience with at least 6 months of critical‑care experience. Required Minimum Skills Excellent communication and customer‑relations skills. Critical‑thinking ability and ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals.
