We are currently working with an established mid-sized company in the construction/manufacturing space that is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee its accounting and financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to take ownership of the accounting function and serve as a key partner to company leadership.
About the Role
The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, budgeting, and internal controls. This position will work closely with leadership and operational teams to provide accurate financial information and support business decision-making.
Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial operations
  
  
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
  
  
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
  
  
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management
  
  
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  
  
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
  
  
• Analyze financial results and provide insights to company leadership
  
  
• Monitor job, project, or production-related financial performance
  
  
• Partner with operations and management to improve financial processes and reporting
  
  
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, and other financial partners
  
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies
  
  
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and efficiencies
  
  
• Lead and support the accounting team as needed
  
  
• Assist leadership with financial planning and special projects
  
  

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  
  
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
  
  
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  
  
• Experience overseeing the full accounting cycle
  
  
• Strong Excel and accounting systems/ERP experience
  
  
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  
  
• Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting processes
  
  
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  
  
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both accounting and operational teams
  
  
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, or another project-based/operational environment preferred
  
  
• CPA or other relevant certification a plus
