JOB TITLE: Lead Medical Assistant


POSITION SUMMARY:


The Lead Medical Office Assistant supports and leads the daily functioning and responsibilities of the clinic MA team.


Build Trust


The Lead Medical Assistant demonstrates integrity, transparency, and compassion in all interactions by:

• Ensuring that all MA responsibilities and tasks are completed and documented for quality purposes. Includes: equipment and safety checks, stocking supplies, quality control, lab processes, medication ordering, materials management orders, VFC primary coordinator and oversight

Obsess Over Excellence


The Lead Medical Assistant supports continuous improvement and high standards by:

• Directing daily back office standing needs, including: making decisions about re-assignments for unplanned absences, changes in provider and patient needs to maintain efficient workflow and high quality of customer service. Coordinates with the Clinical Practice Manager and Administrative Assistant regarding staff PTO requests and adjusts assignments to ensure adequate MA coverage

• Responsible for orientation, training and support of new hires and on-going training of MA's to maintain licensing skills. Includes: New Hire Competency checklists, Annual Skills checks, and providing feedback to the Clinical Practice Manager for Annual Performance Reviews.

Lead Innovation


The Lead Medical Assistant encourages creativity and forward-thinking approaches by:

• Assisting MA staff in problem-solving through listening, balancing needs, and finding resolution.

• Collaborating with Clinical Practice Manager regarding Quality Improvement (QI) and new clinic processes and actively ensures processes are adopted by the MA staff under direction of the Clinical Practice Manager

Deepen Connections


The Lead Medical Assistant strengthens relationships with patients, staff, and care team partners by:

• Maintaining communication and coordination with Clinical Practice Manager and escalates issues when appropriate.

• Providing back-up/float MA coverage across the SVH Clinic system and clinic outreach program. Includes: covering MA staff for planned and unplanned PTO, floating to cover any needed clinic provider or MA team based on volume or need as determined by the Clinical Practice Manager

• Completing annual continuing education (CE) focused on leadership, communication, and medical assistant skills

QUALIFICATIONS:


Required Education:

• High School Diploma AND graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program

Required Certification:

• MA-certification or MA-registration active with the State of Washington

Required Experience:

• Currently employed as a full-time Medical Assistant. 1+ years of experience working as a medical assistant in a clinic setting

SKILLS:

• Demonstrated leadership capabilities- able to remain collected, objective and focus on problem solving under pressure. Good communication skills. Conveys a professional image, in person, via email, and the phone

• Ability to work with providers and personnel who have clinical, business or technical backgrounds

• Demonstrated competence in back-office duties and patient care

• Demonstrated excellence in customer service

• Knowledge of the English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules, of composition and grammar

• Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases and deformities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including Lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, sitting, kneeling, and handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive

Benefit Eligibility Requirements - Employees regularly scheduled at least 20 hours per week.


Employee Dependents - Your legal spouse or domestic partner; dependent children until age 26.
