Job Title: Metal Fabricator Job Description The Metal Fabricator sets up and operates a variety of metal fabrication equipment to produce high-quality parts and assemblies. This role involves reading blueprints and tape measures, performing accuratelayout work, and using metalworking tools to cut, drill, mill, and shape sheet metal components. The position requires hands-on work in a small machine shop environment where flexibility, teamwork, and pride of workmanship are essential. Responsibilities Operate metal fabrication equipment such as shears, drills, mills, saws, and iron workers to cut, form, and shape metal components according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication requirements for each job. Use a tape measure accurately to mark, measure, and verify material dimensions during layout and fabrication. Perform layout work on sheet metal and other materials to prepare for cutting, drilling, and assembly. Assemble fabricated parts using appropriate tools and techniques to meet quality and dimensional standards. Inspect completed parts and assemblies to ensure they meet blueprint requirements and quality expectations. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely and responsibly. Collaborate with team members and support various tasks in the shop as needed to complete jobs on time. Take ownership of assigned work, follow through on tasks, and contribute to meeting production and quality goals. Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear and safety glasses. Essential Skills 1–3 years of metal fabrication experience in a shop or similar environment. 1–2 years of blueprint reading experience. Proficiency operating metal fabrication equipment including shears, drills, mills, saws, and iron workers. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for layout and verification. Hands-on layout experience for sheet metal and other metal components. Experience with sheet metal fabrication and assembly processes. Basic welding and fabrication skills. Ability to follow technical instructions and work from blueprints and work orders. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Reliable work ethic with a willingness to do what is needed to get the job done. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a small machine shop or fabrication environment. Comfort using personal hand tools and basic fabrication tools as required. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work and maintain a positive attitude. Strong teamwork skills and willingness to assist in different areas of the shop as needed. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a small machine shop environment on 1st shift, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Fridays are reserved for overtime when available and may be mandatory. The work involves standing, moving between machines, and handling metal materials throughout the day. The shop uses a variety of metal fabrication equipment, including shears, drills, mills, saws, and iron workers, along with standard hand and power tools. Safety is a priority, and steel-toe footwear and safety glasses are required as part of the dress code. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Greencastle, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
