Compensation: $160,000–$240,000 Base + Equity + Bonus About the Opportunity Surge Group is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high‑growth AI technology company building next‑generation enterprise intelligence platforms. This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving large‑scale technical challenges, designing distributed systems, and building reliable infrastructure that powers AI‑driven products. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and AI specialists to develop scalable backend services, data pipelines, and APIs used by enterprise customers. This is a hands‑on engineering role with significant ownership and the opportunity to influence architecture, product direction, and engineering standards. What You’ll Be Doing Design, build, and scale backend services using Python and Go. Architect APIs and distributed systems supporting AI‑powered applications. Develop scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines. Build reliable, high‑performance backend infrastructure. Collaborate closely with AI and Machine Learning engineers to deploy intelligent features. Design systems for scalability, observability, fault tolerance, and performance. Drive architectural decisions and establish best practices for backend engineering. Mentor engineers through technical leadership and code reviews. Own projects from design through production deployment. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience. Experience building scalable distributed systems and microservices. Strong understanding of API design and backend architecture. Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases. Strong computer science fundamentals and system design skills. Startup or high‑growth technology company experience is highly preferred. Preferred Experience Go (Golang) RAG or GenAI applications AI/ML platforms Streaming or real‑time data systems Cloud infrastructure (AWS) What Makes You Successful Excellent problem‑solving ability.
