Field Refrigeration Service & Installation Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Field Refrigeration Service & Installation Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and Agricultural refrigeration systems for restaurants, breweries, wineries, food production facilities, cold storage operations, and other commercial clients.

The ideal candidate has strong refrigeration diagnostic skills, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to work independently while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, maintain, and repair commercial and Agricultural refrigeration equipment.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, controls, valves, and piping systems.
• Service walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in refrigeration units, ice machines, beverage cooling systems, glycol systems, and process refrigeration equipment.
• Install and maintain refrigeration systems for restaurants, breweries, wineries, food service facilities, and cold storage applications.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related issues.
• Perform leak detection, refrigerant recovery, charging, and system optimization.
• Install refrigeration piping, controls, and related equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and recommend necessary repairs.
• Complete service reports, maintenance records, and customer documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with local codes, EPA regulations, and company safety standards.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service at all job sites.
• Participate in on-call rotations and emergency service calls as required.

Equipment & Systems Experience

Experience with the following is preferred:

• Walk-in coolers and freezers
• Reach-in refrigerators and freezers
• Glycol chilling systems
• Draft beer refrigeration systems
• Winery fermentation and barrel room cooling systems
• Restaurant refrigeration equipment
• Condensing units and rack systems
• Commercial refrigeration controls
• Refrigeration compressors and piping systems

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of commercial or industrial refrigeration experience preferred.
• EPA Universal Certification required or the ability to acquire it right away
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, controls, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Experience brazing, soldering, and refrigerant piping installation.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience servicing restaurant chains and other food service operations.
• Experience with brewery and winery refrigeration systems.
• HVAC/R certification or trade school training.
• Experience with low-temperature refrigeration systems.
• Knowledge of electronic controls and building automation systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50–75 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops.
• Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, cold storage facilities, breweries, wineries, and restaurant environments.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer spaces.
