Job Details Job ID: 5518782 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: Feb 01, 2026 6:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description MO certification required: Master’s Degree in School Counseling JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: To implement the Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program to help contribute to the development of students as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES

Implement School Counseling Curriculum Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated Create a school environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence (lesson plan) of preparation upon request of administrator Guide the learning process toward the achievement of school counseling curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior Implements Individual Student Planning Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required Provide Educational Career Planning Provide transition activities Provide appraisals for students for decision making Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms Responsive Services Perform brief individual counseling sessions Provide small group counseling Participate in crisis intervention Lead CARE teams and Response to Intervention Programs Consult with teachers, staff, students and parents on educational issues Lead the referral for special education process System Support Program management Evaluations Develop and participate in Professional Development Help support staff and community relations Consult and collaborate on a number of building level teams Participate in building and district level committees Community outreach Program advocacy School support Other Duties as Assigned Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher/building aides and volunteers and, cooperatively with administrator, evaluates their job performance by providing meaningful input Maintains and continuously improves professional competence through regular attendance at PDC activities and other professional development opportunities supported by the district Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education – Master’s Degree in School Counseling and three years as a classroom teacher or the equivalency in a related field. Knowledge/Skills Proficient in preparing rigorous, interactive, exciting, and informative lesson plans Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Desktop Publisher and database management Able to work effectively with colleagues, parents, administrators, etc. Superior interpersonal skills to facilitate an excellent educational experience for students in a high energy/stress environment. Discretion and confidentiality with an awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education Policies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed. Must be self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Vision: close and distance vision, ability to adjust and focus, depth perception. Hearing: normal conversation, phone conversation, isolating voices in multiple conversations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS

Works in a school environment majority of the time and required to work outdoors for a small portion of the day.

Personal computer, copier, fax, 10-key calculator.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Assigned to 191-day work calendar; 36 hours and 40 minutes; with 2 extra duty days (Elementary) and 6 extra duty days (Middle and High); compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education. Equal Opportunity Employer
