Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements listed below, plus any additional requirements (if applicable) outlined in the full job announcement. Candidates who are pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements United States citizenship. Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA policy. Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Degree obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year of graduation. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory or Commonwealth, or in the District of Columbia. Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program in Dermatology leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency Options: Approved residency in an ACGME or AOA program. One year of post‑medical‑school training (internship or transitional year) followed by two years of independent practice. Non‑U.S. residency program followed by a minimum of three years of independent practice in the U.S., with verified practice related to the position. Residents in accredited training programs who meet basic requirements are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must hold a full, unrestricted license, may be appointed on an intermittent basis, and perform duties under supervision. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Must be capable of moderate lifting up to 44 lbs, frequent reaching, use of fingers and hands, up to 8 hours of walking and standing, and hearing quiet voices. Duties Eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan repayment program. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements and submit an application within four months of appointment. Physician contracts are non‑exclusive with no restriction on moonlighting and no employment contract. Clinical duties include: Aspiration – incision and drainage of cutaneous abscesses and lesions. Collection – reading and interpretation of KOH, Tzanck smears, gram stains, hair and mite preparations. Cryosurgery of benign, premalignant, and malignant skin lesions. Debridement and destruction of skin lesions by chemical (topical chemotherapy) and surgical means (curettage, electrosurgery). Excision of benign and malignant lesions – simple and complex, including flaps and grafts. Injections – dermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, IV, and intralesional medication injections. Patch testing (photopatch) and nail procedures. Skin biopsies – shaves, punches, incisional, and excisional. Ultraviolet light treatment (phototherapy). Teledermatology and other telehealth modalities. Work schedule: Monday–Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm.
