JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Director is the leader of the JHL Safety Team. They are responsible for the development,
implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive safety program, ensuring compliance with OSHA and MSHA
regulations. Through coordination and support of the JHL Safety Team, they will promote the JHL Culture of Safety
at all levels of the organization. The Safety Director will organize, schedule, and track safety training to keep JHL's
workforce at the top of industry in safety awareness and education. The Safety Director will serve as a partner and
mentor for all JHL personnel, fostering a collaborative safety culture. The Safety Director will be the subject matter
expert for all things safety and health and will provide educated opinions to leadership when safety or
environmental health related issues arise.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Core Duties / Responsibilities:
• The Safety Director provides overall supervision and support of all Safety Programs as applicable to
the corporate office, the JHL Safety Team, JHL Jobsites, Trade Partners, and all field staff.
• Conduct and document monthly Comprehensive Safety Program Assessments on all assigned
projects, evaluating compliance and effectiveness.
• Review safety audits, observations, and documentation across the organization ensuring compliance
standards are met.
• Analyze safety data and documentation for trends and training opportunities.
• Perform and document jobsite visits in the field to assist the project team in recognizing, evaluating,
and mitigating safety and/or industrial hygiene issues.
• Participate in pre-job planning and start-up, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Written Silica
Exposure Control Plans, Site-Specific Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), etc.
• Review critical safety plans (EAPs, Silica Control Plans, Crane/Hoisting Plans, Confined Space entry
plans, etc.) across the organization to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
• Provide technical assistance to all levels of personnel on technology utilized to facilitate the
management of safety programs and protocols.
• Take Part in Safety, Trade Group and internal JHL Corporate subcommittees as requested and
appropriate.
• Conduct root-cause analyses (RCAs) for all personnel injuries and accidents involving company
assets.
• Work with insurance companies and JHL human resources to manage workers comp claims,
inquiries, and disputes.
• Develop and manage the Weekly Toolbox Talks, working with field management to ensure that current
and appropriate subjects are being addressed.
• Assess overall training needs for the Company, manage "train the trainer" sessions, and develop the
annual training calendar for all safety trainings, including OSHA/MSHA, CPR, and First Aid refreshers.
• Ensure that training certifications are regularly and accurately tracked, updated, and available to the
employee and organization.
• Monitor lost-time injuries and illnesses, completing First Reports of Injury in a timely manne

Education / Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Safety Manager (Required)
• MSHA Part 48 Experience (Preferred)
• Heavy Civil/Infrastructure experience 2 years (Preferred)
• Vertical/Commercial experience 2 years (Preferred)
• Bachelor's Degree Construction Management (Preferred)
• OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer (OSHA 10 & 30) (Preferred)
• Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) -(minimum) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
(Preferred)
• Bilingual, English/Spanish (Preferred)

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of safety management principles and required governmental
reporting.
• Motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently and with others in a team
environment with the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, manage time, and handle tight deadlines
under minimal supervision.
• Display a respect for confidentiality and proven ability to navigate through difficult situations with
employees, trade partners, clients, and OSHA inspectors.
• Exhibit a strong regard for organizing and prioritizing, as well as an ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written &verbal communication skills and technical aptitude with various software
platforms.

OTAL COMPENSATION:
Annual Bonus Eligible for participation.

TRAVEL:
Business travel is required, must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel statewide.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office: Up to 50%, of time will be spent in an office environment fulfilling the core job duties.
Field: Up to 50% of the time providing field support to crews. Exposure to high altitude, hot, cold, wet, humid, or
windy conditions caused by the weather: rain, heat, and loud noises.
