Senior Patient Services Specialist Senior Patient Services Specialist Responsibilities The Senior Patient Services Specialist supports clinic operations and coordinates multiple patient care services across Swedish Cancer Institute campuses. Responsibilities include: Scheduling new patients, follow‑up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and diagnostic tests. Acquiring insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations. Preparing and maintaining patient medical records and reconciling billing issues. Answering multiple phone lines and triaging calls. Acting as a professional liaison with patients, families, other departments, and third‑party payers. Serving as an informational resource about oncology support services. Partnering in the orientation and training of new staff. Performing special project assignments as directed. These tasks are performed simultaneously with frequent interruptions, requiring excellent communication, problem‑solving skills, compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability around oncology patients. All duties are completed with a customer‑service approach (AIDET Level II) to optimize patient experience. Required Qualifications Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months. Medical Terminology certification or completion of a course within 180 days of hire. Preferred: one year of experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., physician’s office, scheduler). Experience obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree with emphasis in Healthcare, or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
