Accountant Position Summary The Accountant assists West Central Initiative’s Senior Accounting Manager with general accounting functions. This position is responsible for computing, classifying, and recording financial transactions to ensure accurate financial records. The Accountant also performs routine financial calculations and general ledger duties. Status: Exempt, full-time, 40 hours per week Starting Salary Range: $54,250 – $75,952 Reports to: Senior Accounting Manager Location: Depending on the candidate, this position may be based in the office full-time, follow a hybrid schedule with at least two days per week in the office, or be fully remote within or near our region. Primary Responsibilities Perform accounting functions, including component fund work and general accounting work. Use accounting software to record, store, and analyze information. Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper coding. Maintain accurate component fund records. Collaborate with all staff to ensure accurate data and records. Support the Senior Accounting Manager and the CFO in budget, audit, and tax form preparation. Payroll processing support and monitoring timesheets Secondary Responsibilities Maintains confidential data in accordance with appropriate state and federal regulations. Interact with various software platforms to gather information for accounting transactions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or Associate degree in accounting plus related work experience. To perform this job successfully, the Accountant should have the abilities and strong working knowledge of: Accounting principles. Non-profit accounting software and cloud-based applications. Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. Project management practices, including the ability to organize work, set priorities, follow up on assignments, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision. Written Communication – Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar, varies writing style to meet needs, presents numerical data effectively, and reads and interprets written information.
