4-H Afterschool Student Aide - Watertown City School District - Watertown, NY

This position will serve as the 4-H Afterschool Student Aide Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County, supporting the 4-H Afterschool Program, which provides comprehensive youth development opportunities for students in grades K‑12. The educator will primarily work in up to two of the six 4-H Afterschool programs within the Watertown City School District (Wiley Intermediate, Case Middle, Immaculate Heart Central, Ohio Elementary, North Elementary, or Knickerbocker Elementary). Site placement is based on student need. Position Details • Part‑time, non‑exempt, 20 hours per week

• Hourly rate: $20.00 per hour

Responsibilities Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research (80%) Provide the educational program as defined in the grant application, including implementation or modification of established 4‑H Youth Development programming. Support designated students in meeting grant‑identified strategies, including referrals to community services. Utilize diverse delivery methods (phone calls, workshops, family engagement, literacy events) to aid student skill and knowledge development. Assist with program delivery, resource identification, and collaboration with school district staff. Serve as a subject‑matter resource and team member within the association and school district. Maintain a presence at the school to facilitate family communication and involvement. Represent the program on relevant teams, such as the 4‑H Afterschool Advisory Committee. Administrative Responsibilities (15%) Low‑complex administrative management of program goals, problem resolution, and volunteer guidance. Assist in identifying program needs and supplies, and support health, safety, and licensing standards compliance. Coordinate program projects, outreach efforts, supplies inventory, marketing, and brochure development. Provide support for fund‑development activities and promotion via print, news, and social media. Maintain professional relationships with agencies and businesses to support the program mission. Professional Improvement and Other Duties (5%) Participate in required SACC and OCFS licensing training. Develop a professional development plan with the supervisor or executive director. Attend staff meetings, report expenses, and engage in general marketing and supporting Extension programs. Health and Safety – Apply to all duties: maintain a safe working environment, follow regulations, and proactively identify hazards. Qualifications Required Associate’s degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma plus one year of transferable program or functional experience). Relevant experience for the role. Valid NewYork State driver’s license and ability to meet travel requirements. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed. Compliance with School Age Child Care (SACC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) licensing requirements, including TB test, physical exam, and training. Preferred Knowledge of relevant subject matter and ability to facilitate relationships with parents, community members, and students. Ability to integrate programming with existing initiatives and academic curriculum. Team‑work skills with volunteers and staff. Organizational skills for reference materials and programming. Competence in communicating orally, in writing, and visually. Proficiency with computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.
