Details Work in the NICU (Level II and III) of a hospital environment Care for neonates 22 weeks gestation and greater with diagnoses including abdominal wall defects, HIE, RDS/RFS, drug exposure/withdrawal, hypoglycemia, sepsis, TEF, duodenal atresia, diaphragmatic hernia, urethral stenosis, myelomeningocele, and ROP Perform or assist with special procedures including full body cooling, chest tube management, surgical repair of non-cardiac anomalies, tracheostomy management, and Avastin administration with laser eye surgery Utilize specialized equipment including Artic Sun, Blanketroll, Jet Ventilator, HFOV, Draeger Ventilator, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, Alaris, Philips central monitoring, B Braun and Infinity feeding pumps, Atom Dual and GE Dual Incubators, Dreager Caleos, and radiant warmers Documentation via EPIC EMR, with at least 1 year of EPIC experience required Choice of 4x12 hour night shifts (1900-0730) with no call, or 3x12 hour night shifts with call (minimum 1 twelve-hour call shift bi-weekly) Weekend coverage required every other weekend unless staffing needs change Floating required to other NICU units or facilities as needed based on census Requirements Active RN license (SC or Compact) currently in hand Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and S.T.A.B.L.E. Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required 1:2 patient ratio experience Teaching hospital experience preferred Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC EMR experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Proficiency in a broad range of NICU skills including IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, neonatal dosage calculations, ventilator management, and care for conditions such as NEC, seizure disorders, and neonatal abstinence syndrome Additional Information Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care to a complex neonatal patient population including surgical, respiratory, and developmental care needs Orientation is held every Monday with an annual compliance requirement Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials First-time travelers will not be considered for this position Travelers must be greater than 100 miles from every facility in the health system to be eligible for full travel pay rate Night shift travelers for this specialty may be considered at 50 miles from the contracted campus, with reduced rates for those between 50-99.9 miles American Traveler Job ID P-736345.
