Acute Travel Registered Nurse (Med/Surg)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Acute Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Medical/Surgical care. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a Medical/Surgical setting.
• Monitor patient health and progress, managing and administering medications as prescribed.
• Perform assessments and develop nursing care plans based on patient needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
• Assist with patient education and emotional support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health records (EHR).
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and continuous learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in Med/Surg.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification is mandatory.
• Experience with dysrhythmia monitoring preferred.
• Ability to perform swallow screening is a plus.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 22
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 to 6:1
• Equipment: Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, cardiac monitors
• Patient Population: Adult

Schedule Requirements

• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Availability for 2 of 4 weekends per schedule, or 4 of the 8 weekend shift days.
• Candidates must be available for holiday shifts as determined during screening.

• Scrub Color: Any
• Unacceptable Attire: Hoodies, t-shirts, shirts with wording or pictures, facial piercings.
