HVAC Service Manager | General Manager in Training | Home Services | Greater New York Metro | Base: $125,000 - $175,000 | Bonus up to $60,000 | On-site A PE-backed residential home services platform with a national footprint has engaged INC'D to place an HVAC Service Manager at one of their established Greater New York Metro locations, pacing to $20M in revenue this year. The team is rebuilt, the culture is improving, and this hire comes in to set the standard and hold it. There are two ways into this seat. One is the right HVAC operator. The other is a strong General Manager in Training who wants to prove themselves in a trade before stepping into a standalone GM role at a new location the platform expects to open nearby within the year. The Role: You own day-to-day operations of the HVAC service department, reporting to an analytically strong, hands-on GM who came up through the trades himself. On-site in the Greater New York Metro area, five days a week. What you're actually building here: A coaching-first culture in a department that has the talent but hasn't been held to a standard yet. These technicians want to be led well. You are inheriting a real book of business, a live ServiceTitan operation, and a team ready to be led. You are not starting from scratch. The platform behind it is one of the largest in residential home services in the country, backed by serious institutional capital and actively growing. New locations are coming. The platform's own view is that the best route into a GM seat is through a trade first, and they mean it. For the right General Manager in Training, this role has a defined 12 to 18 month runway into a standalone GM seat at a new location within the year. For the experienced HVAC operator, you become the model for how this department should run across the wider network. What the Role Requires: For the HVAC-experienced path: Extensive HVAC field knowledge across both service and installation, not just service calls A demonstrated track record of installing processes and hitting KPIs, with specific examples you can walk through Coaching leadership style. The department has had some culture challenges. The answer is positivity and accountability, not top-down directing Based within, or willing to relocate to, the Greater New York Metro area For the General Manager in Training path: Multi-site operational leadership experience with a verifiable track record of executing processes and driving metrics Military background or MBA preferred, though strong equivalent experience is considered Prior experience overseeing a trade before moving into a GM role is strongly preferred Willingness to relocate into the Greater New York Metro area as the platform grows What This Role Is Not For: Technically strong HVAC operators with no supervisory track record or no ability to speak to ServiceTitan-driven reporting General Manager in Training candidates who expect the playbook handed to them. You need to have executed one, not just described it Anyone who leads by telling rather than coaching.
