VP of Engineering

The Role We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer who can operate across platform engineering, application architecture, infrastructure, automation, DevSecOps, and data pipeline systems. This is not a narrow platform role. Success in this role requires someone who can jump into complex problems across the stack, quickly understand the system, design a practical path forward, and build the solution. The right person will be equally comfortable improving cloud foundations, debugging application architecture, building automation, hardening security patterns, improving developer experience, and helping teams make better technical decisions. You will also serve as a senior technical partner across engineering teams, stepping into a variety of systems that require ownership and architectural guidance. You crave broad technical ownership and can raise the quality, speed, and reliability of engineering across the organization. The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $170,000 - $205,000, based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and the respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. Individual pay within that range can vary due to skills, experience, and available budget. Please safeguard yourself against possible scams and contact us if you encounter any suspicious activity. #LI-SD #LI-Remote You Will Be - Leading, coaching, and holding accountable engineering managers and individual contributors across our application stack, data pipelines, quality engineering, and cloud platform. - Build technical leaders that reduces single points of failure and allows the organization to scale without depending on individual heroics. - Set and reinforce a high bar for technical judgment, delivery ownership, collaboration, documentation, operational discipline, and customer impact. - Own engineering capacity planning, staffing allocations, and the engineering operating budget. Manage cloud, data, AI, tooling, and software vendor spend. - Partner with Product, UX, Data Science, and the Chief Product Officer to shape the Polaris roadmap, sequence investments, expose dependencies, and make clear tradeoffs among customer value, speed, reliability, cost, and technical health. - Translate agency, client, and market needs into a coherent technology strategy across Polaris IQ, shared data products, and measurement applications.
