Job Description

This role focuses on fabricating and assembling metal components using a variety of shop equipment while interpreting blueprints and layout specifications. You will work in a small machine shop environment, contributing to a close-knit team that values quality workmanship, safety, and personal accountability.

Responsibilities

• Operate metal fabrication equipment such as shears, drills, mills, saws, and iron worker machines to cut, shape, and form metal components according to specifications.

• Read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings to determine measurements, tolerances, and fabrication requirements.

• Use a tape measure accurately to mark, measure, and verify dimensions during fabrication and assembly processes.

• Perform layout work on sheet metal and other materials to prepare for cutting, bending, and assembly.

• Assemble fabricated parts and components to create finished products or subassemblies, ensuring proper fit and alignment.

• Perform sheet metal fabrication tasks, including cutting, drilling, and forming, in accordance with job requirements.

• Utilize basic welding skills as needed to join metal components and complete assemblies.

• Maintain and use personal tools required for daily tasks, ensuring they are in good working condition.

• Follow safety procedures and use required protective equipment while operating machinery and handling materials.

• Collaborate with team members and support various shop tasks as needed to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time.

• Inspect finished work for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary.

• Take ownership of assigned work, maintain a positive attitude, and contribute to a productive and respectful shop culture.

Essential Skills

• 13 years of metal fabrication experience.

• 12 years of blueprint reading experience.

• Proficiency operating metal fabrication equipment such as shears, drills, mills, saws, and iron worker machines.

• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately.

• Layout experience for metal and sheet metal fabrication projects.

• Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes.

• Ability to perform basic welding tasks.

• Blueprint reading and interpretation skills for fabrication and assembly.

• Capability to assemble fabricated metal components accurately.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

• Willingness to use and maintain required personal tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a small machine shop environment.

• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work and follow through on tasks.

• Positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to help where needed.

• Comfort working overtime, including mandatory overtime on Fridays when required.

Work Environment

This position is based in a small machine shop environment operating on a first shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Fridays are reserved for overtime and are mandatory when overtime is available. You will work around metal fabrication equipment such as shears, drills, mills, saws, and iron worker machines, as well as sheet metal fabrication tools. The shop culture emphasizes doing what is needed to get the job done, maintaining a good attitude, and taking ownership of your work. Safety is a priority, and steel-toe footwear and safety glasses are required as part of the dress code.

This is a Contract position based out of Greencastle, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
