Junior Project Manager

Hours: Full‑Time Position – 35 Hours Work Location: 30‑30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 Only candidates who are permanent in the Project Manager Intern title or those who are reachable on the Open‑Competitive list #5114 may apply. Reporting directly to the Director of ADA Compliance within the NYC Department of Design and Construction’s Division of Public Buildings, the selected Project Manager Intern will assist with interpreting and applying the 2010 ADA Standards, Chapter 11 of the NYC Building Code, as well as other applicable federal, state, and local statutes and regulations that pertain to accessibility. The candidate will ensure the compliant design and construction of all capital projects by performing reviews of outside design consultants’ work, participating in interagency meetings with design consultants and internal DDC staff, assisting with staff development, and conducting weekly construction site visits to assess the level of ADA/Accessibility compliance. Please note: All candidates must be currently authorized to work full‑time in the United States (U.S.). A list of providers (fees apply) is available at PROJECT MANAGER INTERN#‑22425 Minimum Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration; or A master’s degree in architecture that is the first professional degree in architecture from an accredited college or university. Preferred Skills Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 1 year of relevant design and construction experience pertaining to accessibility (not Web Accessibility). The ability to demonstrate expertise in both the 2010 ADA Standards and Chapter 11 of the NYC Building Code is highly desirable. Candidates should have the ability to communicate highly specialized and technical information to a variety of audiences, both in writing and verbally.
