This Engineering Technician role focuses on supporting engineering and production teams in sustaining and improving manufacturing processes. You will provide hands-on technical support for brazing, grinding, and dicing operations, troubleshoot process issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities

• Support engineering and production teams in sustaining day-to-day manufacturing processes and driving continuous process improvements.
• Provide technical support for brazing, grinding, and dicing manufacturing operations on the production floor.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing process challenges and assist with implementing effective corrective actions.
• Create, revise, and maintain clear work instructions and process documentation to support consistent production practices.
• Execute engineering tests, record observations, and document results in an organized and accurate manner.
• Inspect and review in-process product to ensure quality standards and specification requirements are consistently met.
• Assist with the evaluation and disposition of non-conforming materials, supporting decisions on rework, scrap, or corrective actions.
• Participate in root cause investigations using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and other structured problem-solving tools.
• Take ownership of small engineering projects while working under guidance from engineering staff.
• Train and support manufacturing operators on production processes, best practices, and proper use of work instructions.
• Audit and verify operator work to ensure compliance with established processes and documentation.
• Collect, track, and analyze manufacturing and production data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and operators to improve product quality, throughput, and overall operational efficiency.
• Use Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications to perform data entry, reporting, and analysis related to manufacturing performance.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying and communicating ideas for enhancing processes and procedures.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6+ months of experience in manufacturing, production, engineering support, or technician roles preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills applied to manufacturing process issues.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical process documentation.
• Experience collecting, tracking, and analyzing production or process data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications, including accurate data entry.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing daily tasks and priorities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
• Demonstrated job stability and interest in long-term career growth within technical or engineering-related fields.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's degree, technical school certification, or related technical education is preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing process issues in environments such as semiconductor, ceramics, aerospace, precision manufacturing, machining, grinding, brazing, or dicing is a plus.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D and 5 Why is preferred.
• Experience using root cause analysis software or tools to support investigations is beneficial.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and process documentation in detail to support process improvements.
• Experience with semiconductor or advanced ceramics manufacturing processes is advantageous.
• Comfort working with grinding machines, brazing equipment, and other precision manufacturing tools.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, high-tech production environment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

This position is based on a manufacturing production floor supporting brazing, grinding, and dicing operations in a high-tech environment. You will work around moderate manufacturing noise levels and will frequently interact with operators, engineers, and other technical staff. The role is on first shift with a typical start time of 7:00 AM, providing regular daytime hours in a stable, production-focused setting where safety, quality, and process discipline are prioritized.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
