As a Process Technician 3 , you will work closely with Process Development and Engineering teams to develop, implement, optimize, and sustain manufacturing processes for Monarch Quantum’s photonic “engines.” This is a highly hands-on role supporting prototype builds, process development, equipment operation, troubleshooting, and transition of processes toward production.

You will operate and support a variety of precision manufacturing and laboratory equipment, execute engineering-directed processes, collect and document process data, and help identify opportunities to improve process capability, equipment performance, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with semiconductor, electronics, photonics, or precision manufacturing processes and is comfortable working directly with engineers to develop and refine processes and equipment. This role may also serve as a technical resource and subject-matter expert for specific manufacturing equipment or processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes under the direction of Process Development and Engineering.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain precision manufacturing and laboratory equipment.
• Support processes including die attach, wire bonding, soldering, reflow, cleaning, inspection, curing, and other photonic/electronic assembly operations.
• Set up equipment, fixtures, tooling, materials, and process parameters for engineering builds and prototype manufacturing.
• Develop and adjust equipment parameters and process settings to achieve required performance and quality.
• Assist engineers with process development experiments, DOE activities, process characterization, and prototype builds.
• Collect, record, and analyze process data to support process development and continuous improvement.
• Identify equipment, tooling, material, and process issues and work with engineers to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Perform preventive maintenance, basic calibration, equipment checks, and troubleshooting activities.
• Support equipment installation, qualification, validation, and implementation of new manufacturing processes.
• Maintain process documentation, work instructions, equipment procedures, and process records.
• Inspect assemblies and work products to verify compliance with engineering requirements and specifications.
• Support material preparation, inventory management, kitting, receiving, and laboratory organization.
• Maintain cleanroom and laboratory areas in accordance with cleanliness, ESD, safety, and contamination-control requirements.
• Train and mentor junior technicians on equipment operation, manufacturing processes, and laboratory practices.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert for assigned equipment and processes.
• Collaborate closely with Process Development, Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
• Support transition of processes from engineering development into repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on yield, cycle time, process capability, equipment utilization, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience

• Associate degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor, photonics, electronics, precision manufacturing, or a similar technology-focused environment.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting precision manufacturing equipment.
• Experience working directly with engineers in prototype, R&D, process development, or low-volume manufacturing environments.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while effectively communicating with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Experience working in cleanroom, laboratory, or controlled manufacturing environments.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with die attach and wire bonding equipment .
• Experience operating and maintaining die bonders, wire bonders, reflow equipment, plasma systems, curing/bake ovens, or other precision process equipment.
• Experience developing and adjusting equipment parameters and basic machine programs.
• Experience with semiconductor, RF, laser, photonics, or microelectronics assembly processes.
• Experience with manual and automated die attach processes.
• Experience with gold and/or aluminum wire bonding.
• Experience with soldering and rework of electronic assemblies.
• Experience performing destructive testing such as wire pull and die shear.
• Experience with equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with process characterization, DOE, or other structured process-development methods.
• Familiarity with ESD-controlled and cleanroom manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency with common measurement and inspection tools including microscopes, calipers, micrometers, multimeters, gauges, and other laboratory equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to become a subject-matter expert for assigned manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Experience training and mentoring technicians across processes with varying levels of maturity.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues using structured problem-solving methods.
• Experience supporting equipment installation, acceptance, qualification, or validation.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and basic equipment calibration.
• Experience developing or improving work instructions, process documentation, and equipment procedures.
• Experience with 5S, lean manufacturing, or other workplace/process organization methodologies.
• Experience with inventory management, material control, and engineering build kitting.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment where processes and equipment are continually evolving.
• Willingness and ability to learn, evaluate, and help validate new processes and equipment.
• Ability to work with engineers to translate experimental processes into repeatable technician-operated procedures.
• Experience with machining and fabrication tools such as manual mills, lathes, drill presses, band saws, taps, and related shop equipment is a plus.

Benefits

The anticipated hourly pay for this role ranges from $30.00 to $45.00.
