Systems Engineer

Job Title: Systems Engineer We are seeking a Systems Engineer to provide system‑level engineering support as part of a cross‑functional team working on complex electromechanical systems for a new defense program. Candidates will be level II engineers with 2+ years of experience or mid‑level engineers with 5+ years. The role focuses on requirements, system documentation, design reviews, and supporting programs across the full system lifecycle. Responsibilities Support system‑level engineering activities across concept, design, integration, test and transition to production. Write and maintain technical documentation such as requirements, specifications, interface documents, compliance matrices, and test plans. Develop and document engineering processes and standards to meet customer requirements. Prepare documentation for and support system design and review events (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR). Work directly with customers to define requirements and ensure alignment throughout the program lifecycle. Identify and help solve moderate‑complexity engineering problems in a timely manner. Apply and support digital engineering and MBSE practices where appropriate. Support systems engineering activities such as architecture development, system integration and risk management. Essential Skills Proficiency in systems engineering, requirements development and traceability. Experience with verification and validation (V&V) processes. Familiarity with tools such as DOORS for documentation and configuration management. Understanding of model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) with experience in SysML, Cameo and MATLAB. Ability to work with sonar, weapon systems and underwater technology. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 2+ years of related experience, or a Master’s degree (experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree). Experience using DOORS or DOORS Next Generation (DNG). Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Experience with Microsoft Power BI and SharePoint. Exposure to data analysis or data science tools. Electro‑mechanical hardware design experience. Familiarity with naval systems or naval operations. Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architect, MATLAB and Microsoft Office. Work Environment Flexible work schedules are available, including options for 9/80, 4/10, or 5/8 schedules. Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 – $130,000.00 per hour. Benefits are subject to change and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
