Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger is responsible for bagging groceries at check out for customers. Strive to pack at least five items per bag while ensuring contents are not damaged. Follow best practices for bagging items in various types of bags (reusable, plastic, paper). Assist in removing customer's merchandise from the bottom of shopping carts for checkout. Offer to help customers load bags into their cars. Perform basic shelf conditioning. Inform customers of grocery specials. Return merchandise to store shelves. Gather shopping carts and return them to designated areas. Clean spills, and pick up trash inside the store and parking lot. Clean all areas inside and outside of the store. Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise. Understand the store's layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to management. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed. Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products. Follow all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines. Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues. Support and assist with interactions involving minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualifications Minimum Position Qualifications: Retail experience is preferred but not necessary.
