Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg Telemetry team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical and surgical nursing, telemetry monitoring, management of dysrhythmias, and various patient care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care for individuals recovering from surgeries and managing chronic diseases.
• Administer medications, including Heparin and Insulin, as per protocols.
• Monitor telemetry readings and interpret dysrhythmias accurately.
• Perform nursing procedures including phlebotomy, IV insertion, and central line management.
• Manage pre/post-hemodialysis care and monitor renal failure patients.
• Provide education and support for patients with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management.
• Utilize isolation precautions and infection control measures per safety guidelines.
• Engage in effective communication and documentation through electronic medical records.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical/surgical nursing environment.
• BLS and NIHSS certifications are required.
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management is necessary.
• Ability to float to different units as required.
• Demonstrated competency in various patient care management tasks including wound care and airway management.

Preferred Skills

• ACLS certification is preferred.
• Charge nurse experience is a plus.
• Experience monitoring telemetry on the unit level.
• Familiarity with post-cardiac and post-surgical recovery.
• Ability to manage and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).

Work Environment

The registered nurse will work in a dynamic Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a patient-nurse ratio of 1:6 during night shifts. Flexibility is required as the nurse may float to different units, and participation in emergency response teams may be necessary in case of disasters or mass casualties.

Scheduling

• Night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Contracts are available for 13-26 weeks.
• Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
• Must be available to work holidays.

Additional Information

Unit orientation will last 24 hours. Nurses are expected to adhere to the dress code of navy blue or white scrubs. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting.
