Manufacturing Technician – Assembler (Day Shift)This Manufacturing Technician role focuses on assembling, testing, and calibrating complex scientific instruments to support production goals within a dedicated work cell. You will work as part of an engaged team, following detailed mechanical, electrical, and optical work instructions to ensure every instrument meets strict quality standards. The position involves hands-on assembly, material handling, inventory verification, and active participation in a collaborative, continuous-improvement culture.ResponsibilitiesBuild, test, and calibrate all levels of assemblies for complex scientific instruments according to established procedures and quality standards.Install completed assemblies into final instrument builds to ensure proper fit, function, and performance.Follow detailed mechanical, electrical, and optical work instructions with accuracy and consistency.Perform mechanical assembly using hand tools and other appropriate equipment.Handle materials and components safely and efficiently, supporting smooth production flow.Verify inventory levels and usage to support accurate tracking of parts and materials.Assist with basic soldering and related tasks as needed to complete assemblies.Conduct quality control checks to confirm that assemblies and instruments meet required specifications.Support pipette testing and work with fiber optic instruments as part of the production process.Communicate effectively with team members to share information, escalate issues, and coordinate workflow.Contribute to a positive team culture by collaborating on problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.Follow all safety guidelines and ergonomic practices, including safe lifting techniques for various weight levels.Essential SkillsAt least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.Proficiency in mechanical assembly using hand tools.Ability to follow detailed mechanical, electrical, and optical work instructions.Experience with material handling and inventory tracking or verification.Basic soldering skills applicable to assembly work.Understanding of quality control practices in a production setting.High school diploma or equivalent.Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly while performing job duties.Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsElectronics assembly knowledge preferred but not required.Familiarity with pipette testing processes is a plus.Experience working with fiber optic instruments is beneficial.Comfort working in a structured production environment with defined work instructions.Ability to contribute ideas to continuous improvement and problem-solving efforts.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a comprehensive total rewards package that supports health, financial security, and work-life balance. The schedule is a first-shift assignment, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with no overtime required. Work involves regular use of hand tools and assembly equipment, adherence to safety and ergonomic practices, and frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. The setting emphasizes consistent, structured workflows, clear work instructions, and collaboration within a stable day-shift operation.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Fitchburg, WI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
