About the Position

Job Title: Correctional Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year preferred License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (to be provided if needed) Must-Have: MOAB certification or willingness to complete training during the first week Description: This is a smoke-free facility with no designated smoking areas, including the parking lot. Must be able to sustain being on your feet for 80% of the shift. Must be able to pass a facility background check. The capacity is approximately 1,900 inmates, with a fluctuating average daily population. RNs will provide routine and emergency healthcare for patients. Responsibilities include conducting health assessments, making necessary referrals, and managing detoxification processes. RNs will triage and assess new patients, conduct detox rounds, and handle urgent care and sick calls. MOAB certification is required; if not previously obtained, the RN will receive a de-escalation course during the first week. Failure to complete the course may lead to contract cancellation. RNs should have experience in accessing and managing ports, starting IVs, and working with high-flow nasal cannulas. Skills in phlebotomy, oxygen administration, wound care, and telemetry are also required. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary support including phlebotomy and pharmacy teams. RNs should be prepared to float between areas as needed. The RN will work with a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics. Previous charge experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates without correctional experience should ideally have 1 year of experience in the emergency department. Experience in a busy medical-surgical environment may also be considered. Regular attendance for scheduled shifts is expected; approved time off is limited. All candidates must be able to provide proof of acceptable education and training related to nursing care.
