Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 1+ years of experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit within a Short Term Acute Care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:3-5
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• Care for patients with Acute Renal Failure, Pneumonia, Acute Pancreatitis, UTI, Encephalopathy/Cirrhosis, Sickle Cell Pain Crisis, Chest Pain, COPD, asthma exacerbation, syncope/collapse, and Diabetic Ketoacidosis
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
• BLS certification required; ACLS required by compliance deadline
• Must pass Relias EKG exam demonstrating interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
• Experience administering high-alert medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• First-time travelers welcome to apply

Additional Information

• Facility is a Magnet-designated, Teaching Hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 staffed beds
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved
