About This Role
This position is responsible for the instruction and development of children in order to meet their academic, spiritual, emotional, mental, social and physical needs. The Lead Teacher must be willing to work in a Christian environment, work alongside the assistant teacher, provide a positive classroom atmosphere, comply with all rules set forth by the Tennessee State Department of Human Services, and St. Paul United Methodist Church. The lead Teacher will report to and is supervised by the Director.
What You'll Do- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
- 19.5 hours weekly
- Follows the Lakeland Community School Calendar for all breaks, holidays and weather related closings
- Create an educational environment that encourages student learning and allows free choice centers
- Teach daily lessons
- Teach Keeping Kids Safe Curriculum
- Prepares instructional materials for classroom geared toward students interests and abilities
- Create scrapbook for each student
- Supervise and maintain safety of all students in the classroom and various places throughout the preschool at all times
- Follow and implement behavior modification plans adopted by St Paul UMC Preschool
- Communicate daily with parents during pick up/drop off and through publications
- Maintain accurate and complete records and daily role keeping
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent
- One year of preschool classroom experience
- Must pass a Background check
