The company seeks a mid-level litigation attorney with 5 to 8 years of legal experience to join the in-house legal department. You will manage business disputes, supervise outside law firms, handle pre-litigation matters, advise internal stakeholders on risk management, and provide practical legal guidance to internal business clients. This position requires strong written and oral advocacy, sound judgment, effective case management, and the ability to drive efficient, business-aligned outcomes.

Responsibilities include managing or assisting Associate General Counsel in managing a diverse, active portfolio of commercial, employment, and other civil and regulatory disputes, including direct and oversee external law firms on legal strategy, budget control, discovery, and trial preparation. Develop and execute settlement strategies, including mediation preparation, negotiation, and documentation of settlement agreements. Oversee document collections, data preservation holds, and witness preparation in response to subpoenas, in discovery, and regulatory inquiries. Collaborate with e-discovery providers, outside counsel, internal IT, and custodians on collection, processing, review, and production; advise on technology-assisted review and privilege workflows. Coordinate responses to subpoenas, civil investigative demands, and regulatory inquiries; ensure timely, complete, and defensible productions. Conduct or support internal investigations as applicable, including scoping, fact development, interviewing, and reporting. Conduct legal research and develop legal memoranda regarding various legal matters impacted by state and federal law. Provide practical, timely advice to internal business clients on dispute avoidance, legal risk, and best practices. Maintain accurate matter reporting, budgets, and metrics; contribute to SOPs, templates, and knowledge management. Monitor developments in relevant state and federal law and share updates with internal stakeholders. Review, test, and assess new legal technology and AI solutions to improve department workflow, matter and budget management, and in-house work product. Address miscellaneous legal requests as requested from the Chief Legal Officer or Associate General Counsel including contract review, regulatory compliance, privacy, and corporate matters.

Qualifications include a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Active license in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona or ability to obtain Arizona licensure promptly via admission on motion or in-house registration, as applicable. Four to eight years of litigation experience with a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination thereof. Demonstrated experience managing complex cases in litigation and arbitration. Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and workflows. High proficiency in Microsoft Office, matter, billing, and document management platforms, productivity and collaboration applications, and similar business and legal technology. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable and capable of working with little supervision and within variable degrees of supervision, solo and within a lean in-house team, in a fast-paced environment to prioritize workload across a growing, multistate organization. Understand and adapt to various competing business and legal needs.

Work conditions and schedule are full time - variable (typically M-F, business hours may occasionally begin in Eastern Time Zone through Pacific Time Zone); because this role supports business partners and coordinates with outside counsel in all U.S. time zones, some flexibility in workday is required.
