Board Certified Behavior Analyst Job Description: Overview: A Behavioral Analyst is a specialized professional who applies principles of behavior analysis to assess, understand, and modify human behavior. They work primarily in clinical, educational, or research settings, employing various techniques to address behavioral challenges, develop intervention strategies, and improve overall quality of life for individuals with behavioral disorders or developmental disabilities. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for working with program directors, supervisors, program coordinators, and direct staff to ensure that individuals with behavioral concerns served by the organization are appropriately supported. This includes working with teams to identify individuals requiring behavior support plans, assessment of behavior, developing individualized plans, training staff and on the plans, and supporting both the program participants and staff in plan implementation. As part of the planning team, the BCBA will also work closely with the participant and members of the participant's planning team including family members, staff members, and others to ensure consistency in plan implementation. As needed, the BCBA may be required to develop crisis behavior plans and work with the interdisciplinary team on their application. Responsibilities: Assessment Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals' behavior patterns, strengths, and areas of need. Utilize standardized assessment tools, direct observation, interviews, and behavioral assessments to gather data. Analyze assessment results to formulate hypotheses regarding the function and maintaining variables of behaviors. Behavior Analysis Apply principles of behavior analysis to understand the antecedents, behaviors, and consequences influencing individuals' actions. Identify and define target behaviors for intervention, utilizing measurable and observable criteria. Develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to address challenging behaviors and promote skill acquisition. Intervention Implement evidence-based behavioral interventions tailored to individuals' unique needs and circumstances. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including therapists, educators, and caregivers, to coordinate intervention strategies. Provide training and support to clients, families, and caregivers on implementing behavior management techniques and strategies. Data Collection and Analysis Establish data collection systems to monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. Collect and analyze data on target behaviors, treatment fidelity, and outcomes to make data-driven decisions. Modify intervention plans as needed based on ongoing assessment and analysis of data. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of assessment results, intervention plans, progress notes, and reports. Prepare written reports summarizing assessment findings, intervention strategies, progress, and outcomes. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including clients, families, and other professionals, regarding assessment results, treatment plans, and recommendations. Professional Development Stay current with advances in behavior analysis through continuing education, training workshops, and professional development opportunities. Maintain certification and licensure requirements as applicable in behavior analysis. Participate in supervision, consultation, and peer review activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Qualifications: Master's or Doctoral degree in psychology, behavior analysis, special education, or a related field. Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred. Strong knowledge of principles and techniques of behavior analysis, including applied behavior analysis (ABA). Completion of 8-hour Supervision Training as required by BACB Experience conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and developing behavior intervention plans (BIPs). Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral disorders, and their families. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing the practice of behavior analysis. Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards of conduct.
