Associate Director, R&D Integrated Communications

Associate Director leading R&D integrated communications strategy at AbbVie, responsible for developing cross-functional messaging, managing storytelling initiatives, and measuring communication impact across internal and external audiences to strengthen scientific reputation.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage R&D messaging articulating strategy, pipeline progress, and innovation across channels
Ensure consistent message alignment across internal and external platforms including web, speaking events, and campaigns
Lead production of The Persistence Lab podcast including story development, speaker coordination, and promotion
Define KPIs and measure impact of external communications to inform strategy refinement
Oversee program execution, manage agency partners, and control related budgets

Requirements

10+ years integrated communications experience, including minimum 5 years in communications or marketing
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, public relations, journalism, or life sciences
Master's degree or postgraduate work preferred
Demonstrated experience advising senior executives and diverse stakeholders
Project management expertise with track record of delivering measurable outcomes
Proficiency in strategic messaging, omnichannel content strategy, and communications measurement
Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and lead cross-functional collaboration
