What You’ll Do As Executive Legal Counsel, you will serve as the senior‑most employment lawyer dedicated to North America (U.S. Canada. Mexico and Costa Rica), leading on all employment‑related legal matters across the region. You will be a trusted advisor to senior business and HR leaders, embedded in decision‑making on complex, high‑impact people topics. As advances in artificial intelligence reshape how organizations recruit, develop, manage and support their workforce, you will help BCG navigate an evolving employment landscape with sound legal judgment, balancing innovation with legal compliance, responsible governance and the firm’s values. Operating at the intersection of employment law, business strategy and emerging technology, you will advise on the legal implications of AI‑enabled employment practices while recognizing where human judgment, fairness and legal oversight remain essential. Your guidance will help BCG adopt new ways of working responsibly while supporting business growth, protecting our people and maintaining trust. Your Responsibilities Will Include Lead all employment legal matters across North America, covering the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, performance management, investigations, restructurings and exits. Act as the primary legal advisor on complex and high‑risk employment matters, including litigation, regulatory issues, internal investigations and sensitive employee relations matters. Partner closely with senior business leaders and HR to shape decisions that balance legal risk, commercial priorities and an exceptional employee experience. Advise senior leaders on the employment law implications of emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled workforce practices, ensuring legal, regulatory and ethical considerations are incorporated into business decisions. Partner with HR, Digital and business leaders to establish governance approaches that support the responsible adoption of AI across the employee lifecycle while balancing innovation, legal risk and appropriate human oversight. Monitor emerging employment legislation, regulatory developments and case law relating to artificial intelligence, workplace technologies and automated decision‑making, translating legal developments into practical guidance for the business. Drive the development and evolution of employment policies and practices to ensure they remain aligned with changing regulatory requirements, evolving workforce expectations and advances in technology. Lead and develop a team of employment lawyers while overseeing external counsel strategy and ensuring high‑quality legal support across the region. Support strategic business initiatives, including reorganizations, acquisitions, divestitures and expansion into new markets. Enhance how employment legal services are delivered by identifying opportunities to leverage legal technology, AI‑enabled tools and data responsibly, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, consistency and legal defensibility. What You’ll Bring Significant experience in employment law (typically 12–15+ years), with a combination of in‑house and leading law firm experience preferred. Deep expertise in U.S. employment law; experience advising on Canadian employment law is strongly preferred. Exceptional legal judgment and experience managing complex, high‑profile employment matters with significant business impact. Strong understanding of how artificial intelligence and emerging workplace technologies are reshaping employment law, workforce governance and regulatory expectations, with the judgment to distinguish where AI can enhance decision‑making and where human legal oversight remains essential. Proven ability to influence senior executives and build trusted relationships across a sophisticated, global organization. Experience leading and developing high‑performing legal teams while fostering collaboration, inclusion and continuous development. Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical advice that enables informed business decisions. Who You’ll Work With You will join BCG’s Legal function and work closely with colleagues across Legal, Human Resources, Risk, Compliance and business leadership. In this role, you will partner with senior stakeholders across North America to advise on the firm’s most complex employment matters while helping shape the future of work at BCG. You will collaborate with leaders across People, Digital and business teams to navigate evolving employment laws, emerging workforce technologies and organizational transformation. Together, you will help ensure BCG continues to adopt innovative ways of working responsibly, balancing legal compliance, business objectives and an outstanding employee experience. Additional info *** For US locations only *** In the US, we have a compensation transparency approach. Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below. The base salary range for this role begins at $280,000 in our lowest cost US region and goes up to $325,000 in our highest cost US region. Your recruiting contact can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high‑end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness. In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 45% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 10%. Senior Directors are also eligible for a Firm Performance Bonus.
