Associate Veterinarian - Mono Way Veterinary Hospital

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian to join our team at Mono Way Veterinary Hospital in Sonora, California. The candidate will provide high‑quality veterinary care and excel in communication with clients. They will work alongside experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff, and collaborate with the Hospital Manager and Regional Director. Key Responsibilities Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Client communication and education Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery Maintain accurate medical records Pharmacy duties: prescribing medications and following controlled‑substance protocols Promote teamwork and staff efficiency Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge Monitor cases and attend daily rounds to uphold high standards Participate in practice‑management updates and training at all levels Perform additional duties as assigned by management Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university Current State Veterinary License DEA registration must be obtained and maintained 1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice Strong diagnostic and clinical skills Excellent surgical and dental skills Team‑oriented work ethic Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care Effective communication with Medical and Hospital staff Client communication: elicit information, establish rapport, explain care Confidence and reassurance with stressed or ill pets Ability to perform occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Ability to perform moderately physically demanding work and lift up to 50 lbs Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Clinical knowledge and skills for comprehensive examinations and treatment prescription Problem‑solving ability for high‑quality veterinary hospital management Effective communication of diagnostics and therapy to clients and staff Professionalism and constructive feedback Business acumen in veterinary practice management and finances Ethical decision‑making Commitment to continuing education and teaching others Compensation Overview Salary range: $170,000 – $190,000 Up to $100,000 sign‑on bonus for a 3‑year commitment Relocation assistance No negative accrual and no non‑compete Benefits Signing, retention, and relocation packages up to $75,000 Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid parental leave (birth, adoption, foster) 401(k) with discretionary contribution Team member pet discounts Emotional wellbeing support – Calm app access and 24/7 EAP CE stipends and career development resources Grant Circle – relief fund for personal hardship Local hospital culture backed by national resources Equal Opportunity Employer PetVet is an equal opportunity employer.
