Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant supports this mission by maintaining the integrity of the financial statements of their assigned properties and providing leadership to Portfolio Accountants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare all aspects of the financial statement package, including creating and posting journal entries, general ledger review and completion of balance sheet support schedules Ensure financial packages are completed and delivered in a timely and accurate manner to Directors of Property Management, Property Managers, and clients Independently provide answers to financial questions from internal and external clients Monitor and maintain cash balances Resolve all issues and document response to all review comments generated Analyze variances in financial statements and provides explanations to clients (internal/external) Establish resolution plans for complex tenant issues, including researching and determining the best points of contact to collaborate on resolution Review financials for errors/issues, and determine what adjusting entries are needed Review and approve cash receipt entries by the AR team, and advise AR team on application adjustments Identify and investigate potential AR exposures and determine which balances to elevate to property management and/or the client Review and approve invoice coding from the AP team, and determine the proper expense accounts and instruct adjustments as needed Ensures all debt, real estate tax, and sales tax (where applicable) are made in a timely manner and internal schedules are maintained Review leases for accuracy and independently determine the proper parties to collaborate with to determine the financial intentions of the document including percentage sales on retail leases Adhere to internal accounting policies and procedures Develop procedures for completing various bank and balance sheet reconciliations Provide advice to property management on the development of budgets, and use quality control process to verify that budget information has been properly inputted into the system Assist and provide daily support with events and food and beverage accounting activities to Property Management Independently manage and determine priority of outstanding tasks and research requests Handle client audit requests as needed Assist in the set up and transitions of properties which may include loading beginning balance information, sales pro‑ratio calculations, and closing entries Lead monthly operating calls with Asset Management as well as participate in various internal meetings Assist and provide daily support to Property Management, Asset Management, and the Client Accounting Team Review and post Year End Common Area Maintenance Reconciliations Assist special projects as needed Position Competencies Effective Communication: Is able to clearly and succinctly communicate in a variety of settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect Task Completion: Responds effectively to clear direction; follows set procedures; solves immediate problems; escalates where appropriate; sees tasks through to completion Time Management: Uses his/her time effectively and efficiently; concentrates his/her efforts on the more important priorities; gets more done in less time than others; can attend to a broader range of activities; effectively prioritizes tasks Employee Engagement: Cultivate a working environment where employees are involved in, committed to, and enthusiastic about their work and the organization Employee Development: Support employees in gaining the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to develop their talents and use their strengths to achieve proficiency and excellence in their roles Employee Performance Management: Help employees meet and exceed the outcomes that the organization expects them to achieve Compensation The Senior Accountant compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. This range is subject to local, state and regional dynamics and may be adjusted up or down depending on market conditions. Supervisory Responsibility This position will provide supervision for Accountants on assigned portfolio. Requirements Qualifications B.S. in Accounting and 4 or more years of related accounting experience Understands the Importance of the Tenant-Client-Manager-Vendor Relationships Solid Customer Service and Interpersonal skills Attentive to Detail Trustworthy and preserves confidentiality Experience reading and understanding leases preferred including retail leases Experience in events and food and beverage - hospitality is preferred Physical Demands Requires extended hours to meet specific monthly or project related due dates #J-18808-Ljbffr Holladay Property Services Mid West Inc
