Job Summary:

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients visiting the laboratory. The position combines phlebotomy, specimen processing, patient service, and administrative responsibilities .

The PSR I will collect high-quality blood specimens, prepare samples for laboratory testing, maintain accurate documentation, and provide patients with a professional and reassuring experience.

The ideal candidate should have strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, excellent patient service, and the ability to work accurately and independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture and blood specimen collection accurately and safely.
• Collect and process both clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures.
• Perform blood collections on pediatric and geriatric patients .
• Explain collection procedures to patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Follow established practices, procedures, and safety standards.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Protect the confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
• Provide excellent customer service and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
• Work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
• Maintain quality and error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and focus on process excellence.
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent - REQUIRED.
• Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience - REQUIRED.
• California state credential/license requirement applies to this position.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections .
• Ability to perform quality, accurate, and error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
• Keyboard/data-entry experience - REQUIRED.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Strong attention to confidentiality and patient information accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year of phlebotomy experience - preferred.
• Medical Assistant or Paramedic training - preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification - preferred.
• Previous customer service experience in a retail or service environment - preferred.
