Operator-In-Training - Senior Lead Operator

Job Overview Maryland Environmental Service is hiring an entry‑level Operator‑In‑Training (OIT) or an experienced Operator at our Freedom facility in Sykesville, MD. The OIT apprenticeship is a 3‑year program that includes on‑the‑job training, an independent study program, and professional in‑house mentoring and coaching. Responsibilities Work in varying weather conditions and may be required to work weekends, holidays, or emergency situations. Participate in periodic performance evaluations and training components of the apprenticeship. Salary and Benefits Starting salary for an OIT is $39,748.80. Pay raises are awarded periodically during the apprenticeship based on benchmarks and performance. Upon successful completion, graduates are offered Operator positions.Estimated Pay Range: $39,748.80 - $83,575.93 Benefits include: Health insurance with choice of medical plans and prescription, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance options. Flexible spending accounts, 401(k) retirement savings program with agency match. Paid vacation, personal and sick leave, eleven paid holidays per year, tuition assistance. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Driver's license with less than 5 points. Mechanical inclination and basic math skills.
