Our team of programming experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.What You'll DoEpic Games is seeking an experienced Senior Language Programmer to join our Verse team, which owns the toolchain (compiler, VM, and runtime) that powers game development in Unreal Engine and UEFN. You'll work on the systems every UE and UEFN developer relies on to build and ship games with Verse.In this role, you willExtend, evolve, and maintain the Verse compiler toolchain and VM, implementing new language features and integrating with Unreal Engine's content, build, and cooking pipelinesOptimize performance, memory usage, and iteration times across the Verse toolchain and UE/Verse boundaryWork closely with language consumers to ensure an exceptional user experienceEstablish test workflows to validate improvements and prevent regressionsDesign and maintain the scripting interface to Unreal Engine, working in close collaboration with the Verse Language team and the broader UE engineering organizationWhat we're looking forExpert knowledge of C++17 or laterExperience in language compiler and toolchain development, including compiler internals and VM designExperience developing and optimizing large codebases, making tradeoffs between usability, performance, and powerStrong ability to reason about large, interconnected systemsSolid grounding in software engineering principles, including API designStrong communication and collaboration skills across engineering teamsAbility to work autonomously and deliver practical solutionsExperience with both compiler internals and Unreal Engine integration is a plusEPIC JOB + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFEOur intent is to cover all things that are medically necessary and improve the quality of life.
