School-Based Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) – Bound Brook, NJ
Requirements & Qualifications
Licensure & Credentials: Active New Jersey state OT license and NJ Department of Education (NJ DOE) School Occupational Therapist Educational Services Certificate (or eligibility). NBCOT certification (OTR).
Clinical Experience: School-based OT practice or strong pediatric outpatient background preferred.
Evaluation & Assessment Expertise: Proficiency in administering and interpreting standardized pediatric tools (e.g., BOT-2, PDMS-2, VMI, SPM/SPM-2, Sensory Profile 2, M-FUN).
Intervention Mastery: Strong clinical skills in sensory processing, visual-motor integration, bilateral coordination, fine motor dexterity/pencil grasp kinematics, self-regulation (Zones of Regulation / Alert Program), and ADL/classroom tool adaptations.
Special Education Acumen: Working knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FAPE/LRE mandates, SMART IEP goal writing, and electronic progress monitoring.
Position Overview
Location: Bound Brook, NJ
Schedule: 7:50 AM – 3:05 PM (includes 1 hour daily for lunch & prep)
Status: Full-Time or Part-Time (flexible service days based on availability)
Contract Duration: ASAP – December 31, 2026 (with high potential for extension)
Caseload & Clinical Setting
Primary Population: Early childhood (Pre-K) and early elementary (Kindergarten – 1st Grade).
Secondary Coverage: Potential support for a small cohort of high school students.
Focus on fine motor delays, sensory integration differences, praxis, and academic access needs.
Core Responsibilities
Deliver direct push-in and pull-out occupational therapy services per student IEPs and 504 plans.
Administer comprehensive initial, triennial, and re-evaluations to determine educational impact.
Implement targeted interventions for handwriting (e.g., HWT principles), executive function, sensory diets, and classroom environmental modifications/AT.
Collaborate closely with CST members, general/special education teachers, SLPs, PTs, and parents during annual reviews and IEP meetings.
Maintain thorough, compliant clinical documentation, session notes, and Medicaid billing logs.
