Senior Bankruptcy Attorney and Practice Leader Creditor Side Chapter 11 and Post Confirmation Litigation Location: Remote — United States Employment: Full-time Experience: 8+ years of relevant legal experience The Role You will work directly with firm leadership to oversee legal strategy, case execution, and team performance. The primary focus is post-confirmation work arising from corporate Chapter 11 cases, including claims disputes, litigation, and matters involving creditor or liquidation trusts and their trustees. You will also support creditor-side matters during active bankruptcy proceedings as needed. The ideal candidate combines substantial bankruptcy experience with the ability to organize a busy practice, make consequential decisions, and earn the confidence of clients, trustees, and referring counsel. Key Responsibilities Lead Legal Strategy and Case Execution Direct creditor-side Chapter 11 and post-confirmation matters from assignment through resolution. Evaluate claims, defenses, litigation exposure, potential recoveries, and settlement options; recommend practical strategies supported by sound legal analysis. Oversee claims review, objections, negotiations, and litigation involving post-confirmation trusts and creditor recoveries. Review and approve substantive legal work, including pleadings, motions, correspondence, and settlement documentation. Handle or supervise hearings, negotiations, and communications with opposing counsel and other stakeholders. Balance potential recovery against litigation costs, timing, and available resources. Manage and Develop the Legal Team Lead and mentor attorneys and paralegals working across multiple matters. Establish clear responsibilities for lead attorneys, supporting attorneys, and paralegals on each case. Set priorities, monitor workloads and deadlines, and hold team members accountable for progress and quality. Provide timely guidance on complex legal questions and ensure decisions move matters forward. Coordinate effectively with remote team members, including offshore legal support staff. Strengthen Practice Operations Build consistent workflows for case intake, assignment, claims review, reporting, document review, and escalation. Give firm leadership clear visibility into case status, risks, staffing needs, and upcoming decisions. Work with operations personnel to improve case-management tools and reporting. Identify bottlenecks and implement practical improvements that increase capacity while maintaining quality. Build Client and Referral Confidence Serve as a senior legal contact for clients, trustees, referring attorneys, and collaborating firms. Communicate clearly and respond consistently during business hours. Strengthen relationships by delivering reliable work, thoughtful advice, and proactive updates. Help evaluate new matters and determine the staffing and resources required to handle them successfully. Required Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission in good standing to at least one U.S. state bar. At least 8 years of relevant bankruptcy, restructuring, or related litigation experience, including substantial corporate Chapter 11 work. Significant creditor-side experience representing unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, trustees, or post-confirmation trusts. Experience with large, complex corporate bankruptcy matters; direct involvement in cases involving $100 million or more in assets and liabilities is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently lead matters and make sound strategic decisions. Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys and legal support professionals. Excellent legal writing, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple matters, competing deadlines, and a distributed team. Availability for full-time work and consistent responsiveness during agreed U.S. business hours. Willingness to travel for hearings, client meetings, or other matter-related needs when required. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with post-confirmation claims administration, claims objections, trust-related litigation, and recovery matters. Experience at a firm with an established creditor-side Chapter 11 or creditors’ committee practice. Experience collaborating with trustees, financial advisers, and counsel across multiple firms. A track record of improving legal workflows, developing teams, or helping a practice expand. Comfort using legal technology and case-management systems to improve execution and visibility.
