Job Title

Responsibilities

• Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.
• Adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality.
• Assists with the orientation of new employees.
• Requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care/essential functions.
• Utilizes proper body mechanics when:
  • Moving equipment and or supplies that are necessary to perform essential functions.
  • Reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or department head.
  • Drives cars, trucks and vans to various sites throughout local area, in accordance with State and Local laws and safety regulations.
  • Picks up, loads, moves and delivers materials, mail, packages and equipment up to 50 lbs. in accordance with the printed route schedule.
  • Inspects vehicles daily and maintains proper levels of gas, oil, water, tire pressure and cleanliness. Must have the ability to change flat tires when necessary.
  • Responds by telephone to non-routine routing instructions.
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements.
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
• Regular and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
• Related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of tenth school grade and experience as a Motor Vehicle Operator may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education Required.
• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama. Required.
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
