Our organization is in search of a Division Head for the Department of Pediatrics, specifically within the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pancreatology, and Nutrition. About the Pediatrics Department

In an exciting phase of growth, we are expanding our Pediatric services. This vision encompasses the enhancement of inpatient facilities and the development of all Pediatric subspecialties. Our Pediatrics Department operates as a system and has a presence in West Bloomfield Hospital, Macomb Hospital, and Henry Ford Hospital. Following a merger with Ascension South East Michigan, we now have an expanded pediatric footprint, including Henry Ford St John’s Children’s Hospital. Our flagship campus is undergoing a significant $3 billion investment, known as ‘Destination Grand’, which includes the development of a new academic medical center in collaboration with Shirley Ryan Ability Lab to establish a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital within our new patient tower. This state-of-the-art medical research facility will foster collaborative research efforts benefiting patients locally and globally.

We are also enhancing our primary care network for Pediatrics, with ongoing growth in both new and existing comprehensive specialty care services.

Our team consists of over 250 physicians and providers, including primary care specialists and advanced practice providers, supported by more than 150 staff members. Clinical services are offered at over 40 locations, including 9 hospitals and more than 12 advanced ambulatory centers. Our strong team of neonatologists provides Level 3 and Level 2 NICU care, supported by a robust hospitalist group. Henry Ford St John’s Children’s Hospital features an excellent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department services, along with various medical and surgical subspecialties.

We collaborate with Michigan State University and Wayne State University to host medical students and residents, engaging in academic development and research. Our Pediatric Residency Program accommodates 27 residents at Henry Ford St John’s Hospital.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology plays a crucial role within our organization, featuring centers of excellence in areas such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Nutrition, Celiac Disease, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic disorders, Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE), Food Allergies, Neurogastroenterology, and Advanced Feeding. We benefit from strong support in Adult Gastroenterology and Hepatology/Transplant, with ongoing development of multidisciplinary clinical and research collaborations. General endoscopic procedures are performed in fully equipped suites, with opportunities for advanced procedures as well.

Qualifications

We are looking for innovative and enthusiastic individuals eager to contribute to the development of foundational Pediatric services for children in Michigan. This is a remarkable opportunity to lead the establishment of centers of excellence and to influence both academic and clinical growth. As part of our expansion, numerous leadership roles will be available within the Department of Pediatrics and the broader system. Clinical duties will encompass both outpatient and inpatient care, consultative services, and general GI procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to lead and mentor medical students and residents, demonstrating competence in general pediatric gastrointestinal procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• M.D., Ph.D. / M.D. / D.O. degree, or equivalent
• Completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology
• Licensed by the Michigan Medical Board
• Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, with subspecialty certification in pediatric gastroenterology (or eligibility for certification)
