Title: TAP Job CoachReports To: TAP Coordinator/Director of Special ServicesJob Summary: The TAP (Transition Alliance Program) Job Coach supports students with disabilities (ages 14-25) as they transition into community employment by assessing their strengths, coordinating work experiences, and providing direct job‑site training. Services are delivered in school, community, and workplace settings. The role involves transporting students, communicating closely with employers and transition teams, tracking progress in IVRS (Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services) systems, and ensuring students have the skills, support, and accommodations needed to succeed in workplace settings.Job ResponsibilitiesAdminister interest inventories and related work assessments to students prior to job placementComplete the job task analysis after work sites have been identifiedTransport students to job shadows, job sites, and provide on-site job trainingTransport students to Community Service visits as a part of their transition planCommunicate with community partners to get feedback and solve any problems that may have arisen to ensure the student is successful in the position.Maintain case notes and documentation of services provided in the IRSS system within the IVRS networkUtilize proficiency scales to observational and quantitative data related to Job Candidate's skills on various tasksKeep accurate documentation on students' work experience performanceInitiate feedback from business partners/supervisorsCommunicate regularly with TAP Transition team, IVRS staff, parents, Job Site supervisors and other stakeholders supporting Job CandidatesAssist students with personal care needs such as mobility, hygiene and special medical needs as related to jobIdentify and communicate site safety procedures with the employer, student, and other staff as neededPromote a positive image of individuals with disabilities to employers, coworkers and the communitySupport students and adult clients with resume writing, mock job interviewsAbility to work nights, weekends and summer hoursRegular attendance requiredOther duties as assignedPREPARATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS2 year degree required, preferably in Human Services, Social Work or EducationMust have valid Iowa Driver's LicenseA driving record satisfactory to the District and the District's insurance carrierExperience working with youth ages 14-25Enjoy working with students with disabilitiesAbility to take direction from professional staffWillingness to assume responsibility and take initiative both at businesses and within the schoolsGood oral and written communication skillsCapable of effectively training and supervising students/adults ranging in age from 14-25 in off-campus job sitesExperience with Google software preferredCLASSIFICATION:Non -Administrative Meet and ConferFull-time; Eight (8) hours per day206-day contract - Summer work is anticipated to be up to 20-30 hours per week on average.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform essential functions successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet, such as curriculum materials, desks, chairs, and boxes. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
