Respiratory Therapist


Job Details:


• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging including data entry and error correction• Rotating schedule with 2 day shifts and 1 night shift or vice versa
• Rotating weekend shifts required
• 8-week assignment
• Must have license in hand prior to start
• Ventilator weaning experience required
• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of facility
• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans
• Operate various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients
• Perform chest physiotherapy using various equipment to promote secretion clearance
• Perform suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
• Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy
• Perform routine review of patient chest X-rays to determine need for further evaluation
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
• Perform pulmonary function studies including NIF and VC
• Assist with respiratory care procedures including bronchoscopy, perc trachs, and chest tube placement
• Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in emergent and non-emergent situations
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor, record, and report test results
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via free hand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
• Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation on various equipment types
• Document all treatments and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient chart
• Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency
