Litigation Attorney

Role Description This full-time, on-site Litigation Attorney role is based in New Orleans, LA and involves representing the City in a wide range of civil litigation matters. The Litigation Attorney will draft and respond to pleadings and motions, manage discovery, and conduct legal research and analysis to support the City’s position in court. Daily responsibilities include preparing for and handling hearings, trials, and depositions, coordinating with internal departments and external parties, and advising City officials on legal risks and strategies. The role also involves negotiating settlements when appropriate, maintaining accurate case files and documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Qualifications Strong foundation in Law, including civil litigation, municipal law, and legal research. Experience drafting and arguing Motions, pleadings, and other court filings. Demonstrated ability to appear in Courts, handle hearings, and manage case calendars. Experience preparing for and conducting Trials, including witness examination and evidence presentation. Skill in planning, conducting, and defending Depositions of parties and witnesses. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Louisiana. Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail and strong analytical abilities. Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with colleagues and City departments. Commitment to ethical practice, public service, and working with diverse communities. Prior experience in government, a sense of humor, public interest, or complex civil litigation is preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
