PACU Registered Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PACU Registered Nurse to join our team in a fast-paced recovery environment. As a PACU RN, you will play a critical role in the care and recovery of patients following surgical procedures.

Unit Information

Unit Name: PACU (Main)
Beds: 8 PACU and 7 Pre-Certs
Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
Nurse Aides: Not available

Working Conditions

Weekend Requirement: No in-house staff on weekends; call only
Holidays: Rotate with core staff
Scrub Color: Provided
Telemetry: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
Ventilators: No
Hospitalist or Intensivist: Available on-site
IV Team: Available as necessary
Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 availability
Pharmacy: 24/7 availability

Shifts and Call Schedule

Shifts: Varied 12-hour shifts (Monday to Friday) with start times ranging from 0500 to 0930
Call Requirements: Approximately 5 weekend call shifts and 8 weeknight shifts per quarter. Weeknight hours are from 2200 to 0500 or 2200 to 0700; weekend hours are from 0700 to 1900 or 1900 to 0700
Floating: Possible between PACU and OPSC, as needed

Orientation and Additional Information

Orientation: 1-2 days in PACU with a preceptor
Common Patient Diagnosis: Total hip and knee replacements, general surgeries, da Vinci surgeries, neurology, and urology cases
Required Experience: Candidates must have acute recovery experience
Additional Notes: This is not a trauma facility, but the PACU may accommodate ICU patients until beds become available.

- ACLS (AHA)
- BLS (AHA)
- NIHSS
- PALS (AHA)
Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
License Requirement: Active RN license required
