Salary Range: $18.14 per hour

Job Summary

The Sanitation Loader is responsible for routine manual work involving heavy physical labor, picking up trash on their route, and maintaining a clean community (i.e. picking up trash on city right of ways, etc.). In addition, the Sanitation Loader may provide additional support, such as acting as a backup driver, providing community service, cleaning, and maintaining the sanitation equipment, and other general department duties.

Examples of Duties

Must possess the following: Good interpersonal skills and the capacity for teamwork. Speak, read, write, and understand English. Make decisions based on sound judgment leading to logical conclusions. Ability to use independent judgment, decision making, applying interpersonal and customer service skills, working alone, and participating in a team environment.

Must have the ability to perform the following: Loading trash to truck. Rolls out trash containers from yards, houses, apartments for loading on trucks. Returns empty containers from street to apartment, house yards. Loads trash containers and refuse on trucks. Must have the ability to bend, lift and carry 75 pounds or more. Distributes load on trucks. Willingness to perform routine manual work; ability to lift heavy weights. Willingness to work under all weather conditions, physical endurance, and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Position may require other specific training related to the work performed.
