Details Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult and geriatric patients under the Family Medicine service with a variety of conditions and diagnoses Includes 0-10 Department of Corrections (DOC) patients at any given time housed in a locked double-door wing, always accompanied by a DOC officer 12-hour Day/Night shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730) with every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed Day/Night rotators limited to 2 shift flips per 6-week schedule unless requested otherwise, with 36 hours off required between a night shift and a following day shift Uses Epic EMR Floating required as needed Requirements Active WI or compact RN license required BLS certification required (AHA only) Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty Experience starting and maintaining IVs required Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and an 80% or higher overall score Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring required Additional Information Provide direct patient care to med/surg and telemetry patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and wound care as needed Care includes patients with conditions requiring IV therapy, respiratory support, and cardiac monitoring Previous law enforcement patient care experience is preferred given the DOC patient population First-time travelers will be considered if they have 5 years of previous inpatient med/surg experience Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted Located at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital in Madison, WI American Traveler Job ID P-755204.
