Job Title: Facilities Technician

Job Description

The Facilities Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs facility equipment and building systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations in a production environment. This role focuses on HVAC and facility systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and supporting production and maintenance teams with daily operational needs and facility improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Inspect facility equipment and building systems regularly to identify maintenance and safety issues.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, air compressors, chillers, cooling systems, plumbing, and electrical equipment.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
• Monitor utility systems and identify potential issues before they cause downtime or impact production.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with internal maintenance team members and outside contractors.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and facility emergencies to minimize disruption.
• Assist with facility improvement projects, equipment installations, and upgrades to support operational efficiency.
• Follow all environmental, health, and safety guidelines and procedures while performing maintenance work.
• Complete maintenance records, work orders, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to support daily operations and production goals.
• Help train and support other maintenance technicians when needed, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Perform other facilities and maintenance duties as assigned to support the overall operation.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance environment.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility support systems.
• Ability to perform HVAC and facility systems maintenance, including chillers and boilers.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Basic understanding of preventive maintenance practices and equipment reliability principles.
• Experience with building automation systems or similar facility control systems.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow maintenance procedures and safety guidelines.
• Capability to respond to equipment breakdowns and facility emergencies in a production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with plumbing, electrical work, painting, and carpentry in a facilities or industrial environment.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques for production and facility equipment.
• Familiarity with monitoring utility systems and identifying issues before they impact operations.
• Comfort working with air compressors, cooling systems, and other facility support equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams and outside contractors.
• Strong attention to detail when completing maintenance records and work orders.
• Willingness to assist with facility improvement projects and equipment installations.
• Ability to support and help train other maintenance technicians.

Work Environment

This role operates in a production environment where equipment and facility systems are actively supporting manufacturing operations. The workplace may involve exposure to loud noises and production-related sounds. There is potential exposure to oils, plastic resins, solvents, and other chemicals used in the manufacturing process, with appropriate safety measures in place. The Facilities Technician works around production machinery, utility systems, and facility equipment, following environmental, health, and safety guidelines to maintain a secure and efficient work setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Claremont, NC.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
