Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Overview The Division of Vascular Surgery at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full‑time Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a busy, collaborative surgery team. This role offers an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary vascular team committed to high‑quality, patient‑centered care. Position Highlights Day shift with some hourly flexibility. Primary site: Downtown Campus – 43 New Scotland Ave, Albany, NY 12208. Responsibilities Assess and manage vascular surgery patients in the outpatient setting, including new patient evaluations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing postoperative follow‑up, performing clinic‑based procedures, and providing comprehensive wound care for peripheral arterial and venous disease. Enhance patient access and continuity of care within a high‑volume practice. Provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive healthcare including assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, patient education, and appropriate referrals. Participate in collaborative care planning with the vascular team. Support telephone triage and call management for outpatient vascular concerns to ensure continuity of care. Provide ongoing care following minimally invasive procedures, endovascular therapies, and open vascular reconstructions, ensuring safe, seamless outpatient recovery. Manage postoperative follow‑up and chronic vascular disease care. Deliver comprehensive outpatient wound assessment and wound care. Conduct annual evaluations utilizing ultrasound and cross‑sectional imaging. Qualifications License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State. Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Minimum of one year experience in vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, or related area preferred. DEA certification. National Board certification. Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support certification. Familiarity with electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus. Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient‑centered care and a positive work environment. Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
